How to Prepare Your Flower Girl for the Big Day

Are you on the fence about having a ring bearer and flower girl in the wedding party? Here are some tips and tricks to help the day run smoothly:

Calgary Luxury Weddings

1. Use the buddy system, the idea of having two flower girls or pairing up ring bearer and flower girl so that they can walk side by side. Partnering will boost their confidence.

2. If some bridesmaids are nervous about the processional, then the flower girl is definitely going to be a little spooked. Lots of practice can help with the nerves and having the parents follow up with pep talks.

3. If possible, arrange to have the flower girl attend the shower and/or the bridesmaids’ lunch (if the bride is having one) to boost her comfort level around the other (bigger) bridal attendants. Seeing friendly, familiar faces on the big day will help to ease any anxiety.

4. Seat the flower girl’s parents toward the front of the ceremony so she can focus on them and be encouraged by their smiles of reassurance

5. Keep in mind that having children in the ceremony means there’s only so much one can control. Rest assured that whatever the flower girl does (cries, drops the basket, lifts up her dress…), her personality and preciousness will make the guests smile.

Have A White Wedding

There is nothing wrong with having a white themed wedding, It can be done!! If you are not one for the loud purples, pinks or oranges and you and your fiance want a really neutral colour palette; then having white as your linens, flowers and  even dresses might be an option for you.

Luxury Tip: How to make a white wedding look elegant: Have small pops of color (like  blush pink) in your accessories like napkins or favours. For example you might have large white centrepiece but having a selection of coloured flowers will make your wedding really come together without having too much white. Its a good way to keep that monotone theme throughout your venue without looking out of place.

4 Tips on How to Announce Your Engagement

Your man popped the question, congradulations!! Now you just have to share the news with family and friends, here are some tips on who to tell first and what are the easiest ways to avoid calling 300 people!

1. Who to tell first?

Of course you go to the closest people in your family, so mom’s, dad’s siblings, grandparents and friends. The easiest way is to have everyone come to your place for a sunday meal so you can make it a celebration rather then a just a phone call. Keep in mind if you have family out of town a phone call is completely appropriate.

2.  The internet.

As we all know the internet is the fastest way to communicate, so if you want the word to spread you can always use facebook, twitter, pinterest or instagram to get co workers and friends in the loop.

3.  Have an Engagement Party

This can be separate from just the small get together with your family to announce the big news. Usually you have the engagement party a few months after,  you can invite more people and it is more of a celebration then an anouncement but is still a great way to have everyone together!

4. The Newspaper

It might be a little old fashioned but there is nothing wrong with having your announcement in the newspaper, Its romantic, and gets the word around pretty quickly. Keep in mind the Newspapers require the information as early as four months before the wedding.

Have A Winter Wonderland Wedding

There is nothing more romantic then looking our the window on your wedding day and seeing fresh snow fall. Lucky for us calgary has  an abundance of snow, so instead of worrying about having an outdoor wedding in the summer where you never know what mother nature will bring… keep an open mind about winter weddings and especially in  calgary, it can be truly magical!

Wedding Tip: Just because you are considering a winter wedding doesn’t necessarily mean you need to have winter colors, you can still use those blush pinks or vibrant purples in your decor and have a very cozy atmosphere for your guests.

To Chair Cover or Not to Chair Cover

Chair Covers can be a great way to mask a chair that might not be the right color or style for your venue, however these days people are opting to use a unique chair tie instead.

Luxury Tip: The Wedding rental companies are always getting amazing new products. Try getting a chiavari chair and use a sheer tie to glam up your tables without having to add a full cover. Especially in small spaces avoid full covers, it can really make a room look cramped.
